Cosmetic Dental Procedures
The dentists at Downtown Dental take a conservative approach to cosmetic dentistry. Our goal is always to save the natural teeth when possible, but when more extensive work is required, we go over all the details — including costs, long-term viability, and restoration options — so you can decide which procedure is right for you and your smile.
Dr. Esposito and Dr. Taheri are proud to offer an extensive range of cosmetic dentistry services, including no-preparation veneers, porcelain veneers, CEREC one-appointment crowns, teeth whitening, Invisalign, and more. With the right cosmetic dental procedure, we can make your dream smile a reality.

Whether you opt for porcelain or no-prep veneers, the term “dental veneer” refers to a layer of material placed over the natural tooth, protecting the surface from damage and changing the overlook look.
Porcelain veneers are a standard procedure in most dental offices, including here at Downtown Dental. No-prep veneers are a more recent alternative to traditional porcelain veneers, so it might be more difficult to find a dentist who does this type of cosmetic work.
With porcelain veneers, your dentist grinds or files down some of the tooth structure to ensure proper veneer placement. The no-prep variety doesn’t require this step, as they’re adhesively bonded to the front surface of your teeth without having to grind them down. In some cases, you won’t even need a local anesthetic to place your no-prep veneers.
Naturally, there are pros and cons to both options, which your dentist will discuss when you’ve decided that cosmetic dental veneers are right for you. Regardless of the type, veneers can address a variety of dental concerns, including the following:
Gaps or Spaces
Stained or Discoloured Teeth
Cracked or Chipped Teeth
Slightly Crowded Teeth
Invisalign treatment is a popular alternative to traditional braces that consists of a clear, plastic aligner used to adjust your teeth in phases. We love Invisalign treatment because it’s a conservative way to achieve lasting results, and you can start and stop the treatment anytime.
The Invisalign process starts with your initial consultation. Dr. Esposito or Dr. Taheri will exam your teeth and show you what your results might potentially look like. This means getting a preview of your new smile!
Once your set of aligners is customized according to your needs, you’ll wear each one for one or two weeks at a time, which causes the teeth to gradually shift into a new position over time. With Invisalign, you can continue eating your favorite foods, brushing and flossing as you normally would, and participating in the same sports and activities. Plus, with no fragile metal wires or brackets involved, you’ll experience fewer emergency trips to the dentist.
We’re able to treat fairly complex cases with Invisalign, but some patients may need to be referred to an orthodontist if the aligners alone won’t be enough.
A dental implant acts as an artificial tooth root that resembles a screw. This surgical component interfaces with your jawbone to support a new crown, bridge, or denture. While they may seem high-tech, dental implants are the closest thing you can get to achieving natural, healthy teeth after losing your own due to injury, age, or tooth decay.
Once the implant is bonded to the natural jawbone, your dentist places a connector called an abutment on top to support your future crowns. Each crown is custom-made to fit your mouth and match your natural teeth.
Even if you don’t have significant damage to your teeth, you might be unhappy with their shade or color. A professional tooth whitening goes far beyond what you can achieve from an over-the-counter at-home whitening kit. Whitening is among the most popular cosmetic dental procedures, and it’s typically more affordable than you might think.
Unlike most cosmetic procedures, teeth whitening produces fast results during a fairly standard visit. The dentist uses a variety of tools to apply a bleaching gel agent directly to each tooth, suctioning and washing it off and repeating as necessary. He may also recommend a follow-up office visit or send you home with a take-home bleaching tray. While this may sound similar to at-home whitening treatments, professional whitening gels are more powerful than anything you can buy at the drugstore.
Cosmetic dentistry is a complex process because every case is different. Some patients want to avoid tooth extractions and surgeries, while others look at the situation more pragmatically and don’t want to spend money on a losing cause. That’s why we are always happy to send our patients to an orthodontist or oral surgeon for a second opinion.
At the end of the day, which cosmetic procedure you choose is up to you, and Downtown Dental will help you make the right decision with your goals in mind.
